VYPE MAGAZINE ANNOUNCES THE 2020-21 SHELTER INSURANCE MR. WRESTLING AWARD WINNER: ELI GRIFFIN FROM CASCIA HALL 

TULSA, OK (March 5th, 2021) – VYPE Magazine and Shelter Insurance are proud to announce the winner of the Mr. and Miss Wrestling Oklahoma AwardEli Griffin of Cascia Hall and Olivia Brown of Broken Arrow. Griffin becomes the fourth wrestler to win the coveted award and Brown is the first Miss Wrestling Oklahoma. 

The Shelter Insurance Mr. Wrestling Oklahoma Award recognizes the outstanding athletic achievements of Eli Griffin and the high standards of athletic excellence and exemplary character demonstrated on the mat, which distinguishes Griffin as Oklahoma’s best high school wrestler this season. 

Griffin finished the season by winning the Class 3A state title at 126-pounds and finishing 38-1 on the year. The win marked the fourth state title for Griffin during his high school career. Under the leadership and guidance of head coach Ernie JonesGriffin excelled on the mat and in the classroom carrying a 3.92 GPA. 

During his career, Griffin went 149-4 over four years, was a two-time USA Wrestling Folkstyle National Champ, Junior Greco Fargo National Champ, two-time Junior Freestyle All-American and a two-time Cadet World Team Trials All-American. Griffin will continue his wrestling career in college at California Baptist University. 

VYPE Magazine Publisher Austin Chadwick said of Griffin, “Griffin is everything you want in a high school student-athlete. His record speaks for itself with 149 wins to only four losses. Griffin exemplifies what it means to be a Cascia Hall Commando.” 

Griffin joins former Mr. Wrestling award winners; Daton Fix-Sand Springs (2017), Zane Coleman-Choctaw (2018), Konner Doucet-Comanche (2019), Eli Griffin-Cascia Hall (2020).
